Diving course group from Lithuania - this is the copy of his blog on his web site: Click here
Year of stay: 2006

This summer, my girlfriend, me and my brother decided to go diving. As Croatia was the country we always wanted to visit, we chose to receive our PADI Open Water Diver certificates there. The hardest part of all that was finding a place to stay and a diving center to dive with. After probably a week of searches, e-mail correspondence and phone chats, we finally agreed to stay with Pongo. Not only we agreed on diving courses but also on a very nice apartments in the middle of Rogoznica. I had no doubts our diving instructor Borko was exaggerating (its business) but for our great amazement, we got a two flour choosy house in the center of Rogoznica with three rooms, two bathrooms, terrace, balcony and all other facilities - all our!, for all week! and the price is included in the OWD course price! Unbelievable!!!

So far that was the best holiday ever! I cannot resist recommending these guys. So, back to the point. Here are top ten reasons to make your very first open water dives with Borko and Marko:

1. Rogoznica is a very lovely and very beautiful small island
2. Diving courses are really high quality with lots of additional lessons about threats, medical treatments etc. Usually you should be OK with general PADI DVD playback and diving exercises
3. Ther's an infinite number of interesting underwater places around Rogoznica
4. Borko is a really nice guy
5. So is Marko
6. They have really nice houses for accommodation
7. The cost for diving courses with accommodation there is as small as say in Lithuania but without the accommodation
8. After each dive, you get beer for free :)
9. Very close to Rogoznica, there's a Bau-Bar. It's probably the most beautiful bar you will ever find

And, the tenth - a fragment from our conversation with two pensioner German divers who were making their 50th+ dives here (after diving all across the world):

And how on the earth have you managed to find these guys for your OWD courses? On the internet? Randomly?! You are really REALLY lucky! I wish we have studied for our diving certificates with such a brilliant guys..

Dates of stay: Sept 05 and June 06

Opinion: I have had two different experiences of Pongo the first as a lone female traveller and the second as part of a mixed group. However both were excellent in their own way. I first visited Pongo in Sept 05 as a fairly new diver of 6months with only dry suit experience. Therefore the prospect of warm water diving in a wetsuit was an exciting but unknown quantity. I dived most of the week with Marko and it was just the two of us on the rib. The fact that pongo was prepared to take a lone diver out without additional expense really impressed me and that it has the option of a smaller boat to do so. Marko was great fun to dive with and my diving improved as my confidence grew. I also had opportunity to dive with other visiting divers on occassion and in particular two newly qualified divers who had completed the open water course whilst I was with pongo. We were all in agreement that pongo was a fantastic experience. So much so that on my return to the UK I organised a trip for my friends in June 06. Once again I was made to feel very welcome and the diving was tailored to the needs of the group. I saw the less experienced amongst us grow in confidence in the same way I had done. All concerned had an amazing holiday and experienced some of the best dives we have ever had. We haven't stopped talking about it since!

What makes Pongo so special is that it does not operate as a large impersonal dive operation but that Borko, Marko and Vuk have all brought something amazing to the center. It feels like being part of a family when you are there and all the guys seem to genuinely love not only the diving but the socialising too. I can honestly say that both of my visits have been the best holidays I have ever had and I have never laughed so much. It would seem that the guys at Pongo have a similar sense of sarcasm to us Brits! The location of the dive center and standard of accommodation is also amazing and this coupled with a plethora of dive sites for all abilities makes Pongo my dive centre of choice!!! If you are obsessed about diving like me then it is definitely the place to go. It is my experience at Pongo that has inspired me to become a dive professional and embark on the first level of dive master.
